Community Foundation president Presents Lamp, Certificate

Spicer Bell, president of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, recently lauded Lower Shore Enterprises for successfully completing its recent endowment campaign.

Mr. Bell presented Ann Jones, president of the Lower Shore Enterprises, with a crystal lamp and certificate of achievement.

The campaign raised slightly more than its $330,000 goal and was matched dollar-for-dollar by funds from the Perdue Kresge Challenge for the Community.

Income generated from the endowment will be used initially toward the construction of a 5,000-square-foot warehouse. The warehouse will hold raw materials and finished products for the agency’s production department.

The warehouse will also help the agency cope with rapid growth over the last six years. During that period, the number of production workers has nearly doubled, rising to more than 100 workers from 55 workers.

Lower Shore Enterprises is an award-winning training and employment placement service for workers with disabilities. Workers from five Delmarva counties work in its production department. Mobile evaluation services are available to all nine counties of the Eastern Shore, as well as Sussex County.

Inside Works

To help workers succeed after they start their own jobs, LSE provides a unique monitoring service. Thanks to a $50,000 private grant, an LSE job retention coach closely follows the progress of workers. No other agency in our region provides such thorough support, to the best of our knowledge.
