Volunteer Workers train for employment while helping companies
Joyce spoons apple sauce into serving containers in the Deers Head kitchen. John wraps instruments for surgical kits at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Faith cleans serving areas and handrails at Genesis Eldercare Salisbury Center.
Each of these workers help their businesses and each works for free.
In fact, more employers are needed for the volunteer teams that these workers participate in. Typically, teams of three to six workers, along with a supervisor from LSE, visit locations one or two times a week for a few hours.
Employers interested in hosting a team may contact Marly Lynk for details at 410-749-6183 or mlynk@lseworks.org.
Inside Works
To help workers succeed after they start their own jobs, LSE provides a unique monitoring service. Thanks to a $50,000 private grant, an LSE job retention coach closely follows the progress of workers. No other agency in our region provides such thorough support, to the best of our knowledge.
