Mailing Services
LSE can reduce the time, money and headaches involved in mailing. Just give us a disk containing addresses, tell the printer to deliver your materials to us, and relax. We'll meet the deadlines and take the finished pieces to the post office.
Drop your mailing at the printer, and worry no more!
We make it easy to mail your printed or photocopied materials!
Start by asking your printer to deliver your printed materials to LSE. If you’d like, we can pick up materials at your printer. LSE performs all mail preparation processes and delivers your mailing to the Post Office, making it worry free to you. LSE can even provide free storage of your printed envelopes for later mailings.
Before you print, consider:
We may save you money, as well as time. Our computerized address database can sort mail to route-walking order. The more work we save the Postal Service, the more they reduce your postage.
We can affix postage in any style. Whether you want to impress recipients by affixing stamps or prefer the efficiency of metered or permit-imprinted mail, we can handle it. Many mailers also avoid paying for their own personal permit by using ours. (Note that box-enclosed indicia must still be printed on your mail. Call us for correct wording and number.)
We can mail your printed material first class, standard, or automated. Be sure to check postal guidelines for letter design and formatting and please keep these guidelines in mind:
- Minimum mailing: 200 pieces
- Return address required
- Remove staples or mailing clasps
- Automated mailing information must be positioned so the open edge of “self-mailers” is at the top of the mail piece. This allows us to place a tab at the top, as well.
- Spacing of print must be within Postal Service guidelines
If you are eligible to be a non-profit mailer, your paperwork must be filed at the Salisbury post office. Reduced non-profit postage rates are definitely worth it.
Label Preparation – Leave the hassle to LSE!
We will gladly use labels prepared by you, but we can save you money and the hassle if you allow us to do it for you. Our Mail Manager program automates your mailing and sorts your labels so you are eligible for lower postage rates. Give us your mailing list on a hard disk, or e-mail it to us as an attachment to jtodd@lseworks.org.
We can read a number of label file types including dBase, FoxPro, tab- or comma-delimited, fixed-length fields CR/LF, 1-up label image disk file and standard ASXll fixed length. We ask that names and addresses be set up in consistent fields such as:
- NAME or FIRST and LAST
- COMPANY NAME
- DELIVERY ADDRESS (1 line)
- CITY STATE (abbreviation) ZIP
Please eliminate unnecessary fields such as title, position, acct. #, phone #, etc. from the file you send us.
Preview your addresses using postal guidelines.
Please remember:
- Street numbers and directionals such as N, S, E, and W are important, as are ST, AVE, RD, BLVD, etc.
- Apartment or suite number should follow.
- RR (rural route) and PO BOX should not include a “#” symbol.
- Zip codes may have 5 or 9 digits, as we will convert.
We try to correct common errors, however, poor addresses and misspellings may result in higher postage or mail that is not deliverable.

Inside Works
The feasibility study that led to the founding of LSE was funded in part by a $900 gift from the Kennel Club of Wicomico County. Such broad community support has always been important to LSE and helped it survive and flourish since 1967.
